The complexity of how we process diurnal time and how we translate patterns that recur daily into painterly and sculptural forms has preoccupied me since early on. On the Horizon is an on-going collage series made of mixed media on pieces of paper. Each piece is like a cell consisting of multiple data fragments, altogether forming building blocks in a larger network.
Taken from my studio practice and from every-day life, the source material I utilize in my work is diverse and seemingly disjointed. It includes scraps of my drawings, images found online and fragments of autobiographical visual recordings. Through a process of layering and editing, these disjointed materials coalesce into immersive installations or wall reliefs, like hybrid mindscapes in which the viewer is placed somewhere between the real and the imagined, the organic and the artificial, landscape and topography. While alluding to urgent global issues ranging from the fragility of our Eco system to urban transitions, these layered fragments are like coded messages or excavated memories which present new clues.
