Lotions and Tintures
Hearty lotions for the winter & Tinctures to prevent from winter colds.
Workshops given my Margaret Porter-Daniel
Two workshops will be given, one on
11/9/13 and one on 12/07/13 from 1-4PM EST. There is a two-fold intention to the workshops. One is to transfer basic skills in using plants and plant oils for body care products and medicine. The other is to build community and self-reliance by inviting participants to gather on their own to make large batches of product, share supplies, recipes and fun. The hope is that as we make more of what we use on and in our body, the less dependent we become on corporate products that are neither safe, nor effective. The first workshop we will make a skin care lotion that the whole family can use, and a tincture to help with winter colds. Second workshop we will make a herbal massage oil and salve along with some basic recipes for winter teas that will nip that cold or sinus infection in the bud. Do not participate if you have nut allergies since the products we will make will employ almond oil and are not made in a nut-free environment. If you have other allergies, please check the supply list and participate at your own risk.
